Working Past Retirement

April 12, 2019

One of the biggest struggles retirees face is the adjustment from a fast-paced life full of purpose to a relaxed schedule full of “what do I do now?” If you find yourself in a position with time you want or need to fill, you might consider finding a part-time job. Here are a few benefits to working past retirement:

  • A Few Extra Dollars To Spend. Even if you don’t need the money, having a little extra coming into the bank account each month can give you a little extra freedom to get that manicure or take the grandkids out to eat.
  • Purpose. It’s a known fact, that happy people have a sense of purpose. Look for a job that benefits someone else. Employers are always thankful to find people with good work ethic who provide a service to make their lives easier.
  • Social Interaction. Having a part-time job is a great way to meet new people and keep social interaction in your life. If you are a people-person, look for a job with a hospitality component and you’ll walk away feeling connected.
