In this day and age it seems that everything is moving towards an online presence – even our friendships. If you are a senior adult, you may not have bought into the worldwide trend of social media use because relationships “the old fashioned way” has always worked for you and probably always will. If you’re ever curious about what being on social media could be like, here are a few encouragements to get you to give it a try:
- Connecting with your high school friends from 40, 50 or 60 years ago. Have you moved away from the city or state you grew up in? If so, social media is a great way to reconnect with people you knew from your youth.
- Community. Social media is full of online groups of people who share the same interests such as hobbies or grief support groups
- Family. Your grandkids and great grand kids are all over social media. Never miss a moment of their lives by engaging in their world….if they will let you!
