Just like our muscles need movement to stay healthy, our brains do to. As we age, it’s important to be more and more intentional about exercising our brains. It’s all too easy to think, “I’ll work on that tomorrow” but it’s important to do something to workout those brains every day. Here are a few ideas to keep your brain fit:
- Quilting. Even if you aren’t an experienced seamstress, quilting can be a fantastic way to get your brain to solve problems. You’ll learn how to put shapes together and create pleasing color combinations. Take a class or watch an online video to learn the basics.
- Puzzles. Puzzles really get you thinking about how shapes fit together and how to search for the missing piece to complete the picture. Other types of puzzles, such as crosswords and Sudoku are also great to get a mental workout.
- Reading. Reading is an excellent way to keep your brain active. And taking it a step further, finding a friend or group to discuss what you are reading is a great way to engage your mind.
